The Happiest 5K on the Planet – JOIN ME!

handsI’ve been hearing all kinds of awesome things about The Color Run from friends and bloggers who have done it themselves.  The first time I’d witnessed the excitement of The Color Run, was in Philly on a trip that Jarid & I took together.  I believe it was a Sunday morning, when we headed to the Reading Terminal Market for breakfast.  On our way out, smoothies in hand, we saw several runners, hyped up who looked as though they just took a shower in neon chalk.  We discovered later, that they’d participated in The Color Run!  It looked like a blast.  From that point on, it’s been on my “to do” list 😀

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the gist of this race, here’s a little bit of “history” from the site:

The Color Run was founded in January of 2012 as an event to promote healthiness and happiness by bringing the community together to participate in the “Happiest 5k on the Planet”. We are the original paint race and have created a completely new genre of running events that continues to grow exponentially. Now the single largest event series in the United States, The Color Run has exploded since our debut event. We have more than tripled our growth, hosting more than 170 events in 30+ countries in 2013.”

The Color Run is a five-kilometer, un-timed race in which thousands of participants, or “Color Runners”, are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. With only two rules, the idea is easy to follow:

  1. Wear white at the starting line
  2. Finish plastered in color!

The fun continues after Color Runners complete the race with an unforgettable Finish Festival. This larger than life party is equipped with music, dancing and massive color throws, which create millions of vivid color combinations. Trust us, this is the best post-5k party on the planet! The map below outlines The Color Run 5k at a glance:

gistThere are very few races that I could convince Jarid to do with me, but this wasn’t one of them!  When I showed him the gist of how it works, he was totally on board!  I was able to get in touch with Michelle, a member of The Color Run Outreach Specialist, in order to team up for a blog review of the race, and she kindly offered up two free entries for Jarid & I to participate!  We are thrilled to spread the word and for any of you guys who would like to do The Color Run with us this year, I have a promo code for $5 off registration!

Here’s what you’ll get with your registration:

-Custom The Color Run race shirt
-Over the shoulder bag
-Color Runner wristband
-Bag of color
-Race bib
-Color Runner finisher sweat band
-Sponsor goodies

If you’re in the area, the closest race for you is probably Hershey, the one we’ll be running together!  The one on 5/31/14 in Hershey has already sold out, but you can still come on out and join our team to run in the June race on 6/1/14!  We’d love to see you there!  Not only will this race be the happiest, but it’ll be taking place at The Sweetest Place on Earth 🙂  Thank you, Michelle!

  1. I wish I was going to be in the area then – not until September though :-X BTW, no package yet. Don’t worry though, it’s just because of the blizzards y’all have been having. It’s caused a HUGE delay in our mail here 😦 It stinks, because usually mail gets to us w/in a week – week n half.

    • AH this would be so much fun to run together, too! That’s okay, though. We’ll find something AWESOME to do together when you DO get back in September! 😀

I’m bummed you haven’t gotten your package yet. This is what I get for procrastinating! I hope you get it soon and that all is well!

      Miss ya! xo.
