I had planned to make this post one that would play catch up, showing you all what I’ve been up to all week, but I just couldn’t do it. BullBQ deserved a blog post all by itself. Let me start by saying that I was a tad bit reluctant to do a review on a BBQ joint, as I’m sure most of you know, its not typically labelled as a food that most health freaks, like myself, would partake in…this place is an entirely different story.
Needless to say, I was intrigued at this point. He explained that BullBQ only uses lean pork loins (all the fat removed) in his melt-in-your-mouth, spicy-sweet pulled pork. Also, his sauce is gluten-free! I’ve always been a believer that the foods that are best for you are the most delectable and I can guarantee you will taste the quality difference in his meats in comparison to other BBQ joints. It really does set BullBQ apart from the rest.
How cool is this set up for dine in?! I love the bar stools.
When a mutual friend of ours tagged me in a Facebook post, as Greg was reaching out to local bloggers, I knew it was something I wanted to participate in! An opportunity that my husband would enjoy as well. When I stopped in the other day, Greg & his wife (who is currently expecting… CONGRATS! :)), sent me home with a large container of pulled pork meat, so that we could try it for dinner together!
This picture was AFTER I had eaten half of it. Yes, straight up. With a spoon….and my fingers. It is THAT good. It took all my willpower not to eat the entire container before Jarid got home… and I’m certainly glad I didn’t, because he would’ve been totally disappointed. It was, hands down, the best BBQ I’ve ever had… I was going to say the best meat, I’ve ever had, but then I remembered our trip to the Final Cut Steakhouse… Either way, BullBQ was right up at the top of the list along with that experience. There were NO gristly, gross pieces throughout the entire thing. The sweetness & vinegar flavors complemented one another absolutely perfectly.
It was enough that the sauce accompanied the meat, not overpowered it. Another thing I LOVED is the fact that the meat wasn’t swimming in the sauce. I almost feel cheated when that happens… plus, it makes for a soggy sandwich! Greg hits this right on the money. I will most likely be back by the end of the month for more!
In order from left to right here are the explanations for the pictures… the first: “Wow, this stuff is pretty good!”… second: “oh my gosh, Sam, have you tried this?!?”…. third: “OH MY GOSH this is good!”. Afterward, he was like… we need more of that… now. 🙂 I agree!
Thanks so much to Greg and his lovely wife for sharing some of their amazing pulled pork with us! We thoroughly enjoyed it, as you can see! If you live in the Central Pennsylvania area, you NEED to try this place. It’s a hidden gem in the Broad Street Market in Harrisburg. You can follow them on Facebook to see what Greg is cooking up in the pit currently!
They’ve got everything from fall-off-the-bone-ribs to jalapeno corn mac n’ cheese to smoked chopped chicken (which is next on my list of things to try!) to specialty burgers. They also offer cane sugar soda! Stop in and visit Greg at BullBQ. You’ll thank me later 😉
