Birthday Boy’s Weekend-Cont’d.

Since the hubs isn’t a fan of schedules and running around, like my antsy butt is, I promised myself I would not schedule ANYTHING for Saturday so that he could enjoy the rest of the weekend being the birthday boy.

morning

We woke up when we felt like it, moseyed around the house, I worked out, he mowed the grass, and we literally just meandered around the area.Β  After breakfast, workout, and shower, I made myself a taco salad & Jarid ordered from Arooga’s (his favorite place to get wings) — I wanted him to have all his favorites πŸ™‚

I put most of the salad toppings (seasoned lean ground turkey, plain 0% Greek yogurt, and reduced fat cheddar cheese) onto extra thin mission corn tortillas to make mini tacos.Β  The only thing I was missing were chopped tomatoes!

kiwi

Dessert was a ripe, sweet kiwi — yes, with the skin on!Β  It’s so much easier and the texture doesn’t bother me at all.Β  Learned this from Kath.

Since Jarid’s birthday was so close to his upgrade date for our cell phones, and he’s been waiting patiently forΒ  the Samsung Galaxy S4 to come out, we stopped at the mall for him to get it!

AT&TΒ  had a deal going on that they gave bonus money for people to trade in their old phones (his current was only an iPhone 3), so we took advantage and ended up only having to pay $100 for his new one (which retails at about $620)!

slurp

On our way out and about, we were both pretty parched so we stopped at 7 Eleven for some refreshments, aka slurpees!Β  I got sugar free mango lemonade and Jarid opted for a Strawberry Lemonade Gatorade.

cabinets

We kind of went on a mission for deck chairs, since we have none, thinking that the sales from the 4th of July would still be on, but we couldn’t find much within our price range!Β  I guess I will be scouring Craigslist πŸ™‚

Next door at Ollie’s, we did find an awesome deal on a Conair Pro hair cutting kit!

olliesSince Jarid’s haircuts are typically at least $12 plus tip, just one use of this baby will give us our money’s worth!Β  He was in desperate need of a hair cut, too, so I was glad we found it!

veggieplateTotally forget what the main course was for dinner, but I do remember these delicious veggies that I roasted up!Β  Summer squash & parsnip fries salted with ketchup (minus the high fructose corn syrup).Β  Yumm.

Before the night ended, I had a clean-cut husband again!

precutI’m thinking I made him a little nervous initially.Β  For some reason, I had a bad case of the giggles while I cut his hair.Β  The attachments made it almost fail proof, though!Β  #6 on the top #4 on the sides.

It’s nearly impossible to screw up, although, if someone could’ve done it, it would’ve been me πŸ™‚Β  I’d say it was a pretty successful weekend for my man: a set of golf clubs, a Brave’s jersey, a new phone, and a great haircut.Β  He was happy as a clam… and so was I πŸ™‚

  1. I told Eric this past weekend that I wouldn’t plan anything and we could just relax all weekend… When Saturday came he decided that we would play golf, go to the movies, go out for drinks, etc… it ended up being busier than usual! haha

    • For the taco salad, I shred some lettuce (romaine in this case), cook some lean ground turkey until cooked (seasoning it with salt, cayenne powder, cumin, and other spices) and then I add salsa to the pan to season the meat, too. Then I bowl it all, add some cheese, diced tomato, and plain greek yogurt to the top. I use extra thin mission corn tortillas, warm them in the microwave and use them as transporters for all the yummy toppings! πŸ™‚ For the squash, I simply slice it thinly, spray nonstick cookie sheets with non stick spray, lay out the squash, spray again with nonstick spray, sprinkle with salt, garlic powder, and onion powder, and roast in the oven at about 400 degrees for about 30 minutes.

  2. Yup, Im totally a schedule kind of person. That goodness my hubby is pretty much the same way, but he is a lot more lenient about it. Im like NO! We cannot stray from the plans!! lol

  3. Sugar free products have nasty artificial sweeteners which are so dangerous to our bodies. They are unnatural and have nasty effects on your health.

  4. That taco salad looks awesome- and my hubby loves when we have days where nothing is planned too! Sometimes it seems like were always go go go!

    • Same here! I’m so used to it… it’s the way my parents are, whereas his are MUCH more relaxed… They tend to just stay home on weekends and don’t get out of the “valley” very often, which isn’t a bad thing, we’ve just been getting to find a happy medium for the both of us :)xo.

  5. I eat kiwi with the skin on too!!! haha I actually like it.

I cut my boyfriends hair a couple of weeks ago (literally free handed it with scissors, hahaha) and it actually looks good! Now he wants me to cut his hair from now on. What have I gotten into? πŸ˜‰

    • I know, me too! It’s kind of like eating the skin of a peach only a little more fuzzy πŸ™‚

I have no idea how you managed free hand with scissors! I was nervous just about doing the trim around his ears with them! Way to go, girl! You’ve got scissor skills πŸ˜‰

      xo.

  6. Before I read on after the Just Cabinets, I was about to ask you if you went next door to Ollies & found anything good, Ha Ha!

I can’t believe you were on the Carlisle pike though & didn’t even go get some frozen yogurt.. or stop @ Wegmans.. I guess it was the mans birthday though huh? πŸ™‚ Ha Ha!

    • Yep! We always forget about that hidden gem, Ollie’s! I need to start checking there on a weekly basis! We got Jarid some SunnyD that wasn’t even expired for like 80 cents! Can’t beat it. Haha. It’s his fave! Oh, and yes, I had to be unselfish… no Wegman’s or Bamboo, although, Jarid did offer! πŸ™‚ Guess what though? We went to Wegman’s on Sunday after church! Haha I failed to mention that, huh? It’s a ritual!

  7. hahah i love it. we do 5 on the top 4 on the sides. ive definitely had a case of the giggles when i cut his hair too and it makes him so nervous. the first time i ever cut his hair i made his sideburns super uneven and it looked hilarious(ly awful). ever since then he thinks my laughing is something along those lines….
    happy bday jarid!

    • It’s too funny. Same here! Afterward, he was like… can you please try not to laugh so much… I almost peed myself. πŸ™‚ Thanks, love! xoxo.
