Since the hubs isn’t a fan of schedules and running around, like my antsy butt is, I promised myself I would not schedule ANYTHING for Saturday so that he could enjoy the rest of the weekend being the birthday boy.
We woke up when we felt like it, moseyed around the house, I worked out, he mowed the grass, and we literally just meandered around the area. After breakfast, workout, and shower, I made myself a taco salad & Jarid ordered from Arooga’s (his favorite place to get wings) — I wanted him to have all his favorites 🙂
I put most of the salad toppings (seasoned lean ground turkey, plain 0% Greek yogurt, and reduced fat cheddar cheese) onto extra thin mission corn tortillas to make mini tacos. The only thing I was missing were chopped tomatoes!
Dessert was a ripe, sweet kiwi — yes, with the skin on! It’s so much easier and the texture doesn’t bother me at all. Learned this from Kath.
Since Jarid’s birthday was so close to his upgrade date for our cell phones, and he’s been waiting patiently for the Samsung Galaxy S4 to come out, we stopped at the mall for him to get it!
AT&T had a deal going on that they gave bonus money for people to trade in their old phones (his current was only an iPhone 3), so we took advantage and ended up only having to pay $100 for his new one (which retails at about $620)!
On our way out and about, we were both pretty parched so we stopped at 7 Eleven for some refreshments, aka slurpees! I got sugar free mango lemonade and Jarid opted for a Strawberry Lemonade Gatorade.
We kind of went on a mission for deck chairs, since we have none, thinking that the sales from the 4th of July would still be on, but we couldn’t find much within our price range! I guess I will be scouring Craigslist 🙂
Next door at Ollie’s, we did find an awesome deal on a Conair Pro hair cutting kit!
Totally forget what the main course was for dinner, but I do remember these delicious veggies that I roasted up! Summer squash & parsnip fries salted with ketchup (minus the high fructose corn syrup). Yumm.
Before the night ended, I had a clean-cut husband again!
I’m thinking I made him a little nervous initially. For some reason, I had a bad case of the giggles while I cut his hair. The attachments made it almost fail proof, though! #6 on the top #4 on the sides.
It’s nearly impossible to screw up, although, if someone could’ve done it, it would’ve been me 🙂 I’d say it was a pretty successful weekend for my man: a set of golf clubs, a Brave’s jersey, a new phone, and a great haircut. He was happy as a clam… and so was I 🙂
