The Fabulous Fourth.

Before I get started with all the fun we’ve had over the 4th of July, I’d like to thank all of the men & women who brought us our freedom.  I pray that our country will be God fearing in the future and the our leaders always remember the faith and values that our country was founded on.  No matter what political figure is in office, we can always find peace in the fact that God is so much bigger than they are.  We are in His hands, not theirs.

That being said, after a workout, a quick study session and a shower, Jarid & I were ready to join the rest of the family at my Mom’s house for the annual 4th of July picnic.  That’s right… I said study session.  My third class started on June 30th — Life Span Development.  My favorite of the three thus far!

I packed one of my favorite (lately) lunches, since we didn’t end up leaving until about 12:30.  I was a hungry girl on the car ride there 🙂

riceBrown rice + red lentils as a base, sauteed kale, broccoli, red & green pepper, and onion in coconut oil with a pinch of salt.  Yummmm.

I also had a piece of chicken when we got to the picnic followed by a few chunks of fresh watermelon!

There was lots of pool time (chicken included), volleyball, and game playing as per usual.

The volleyball games were girls vs. boys (3 on 3) and I must say, the women totally dominated!   Way to go ladies 😉

Next up, Phase 10.

Jarid was totally outnumbered, but he came out of this one a victor.

Personally, I think he stacked the deck…

dealer… or maybe we let him win since he’s so cute and because it was soon his birthday!? ❤

On the way home, I ate a chocolate chip cookie…

quest… in the form of a protein bar.

Last week at GNC, I had a coupon for $10 off $20 purchase.  I am a gold card member, which gives you a discounted price, PLUS, if you buy  three Quest Bars, you get one free.  I paid $12.72 for an entire box worth of bars, which are typically anywhere from $24.99-$33.99!

Jarid stopped at Subway, but I wasn’t feeling it.  I only even get salads from there since they don’t have GF bread, and let’s be honest… I can make a heck of a better salad than they can for $6.  I did, however, ask him to take a detour on the way home so I could quench my thirst with a sugar-free slurpeeee.

Weeeee.  It’s almost the weekend!  Hope you all had a lovely 4th of July!

  1. Looks like you had a great time! And I am jealous you got all of those quest bars for such a cheap price!! I love them- but hate that they are so expensive

    • I agree! I told the manager there that there’s no way I could afford them without the coupons and discounts! It’s getting worse and worse! I’m so addicted though. I have the Cinnamon Roll one as a mid morning snack EVERY day with my coffee. So, so good. It’s going to be a hard habit to break if I find myself couponless one day! Haha.

      xo.
