Perky Jerky + Another Giveaway!

Before I begin this post, I’d like to say a big thank you to Yael & Michael from the company who I’ve been in touch with to bring you this review & giveaway!  They are awesome for hooking me (and potentially you!) up.

Since I’m always on the run (working, working out, going to class, traveling, etc) it’s important for me to have healthy options as grab-and-go snacks.  Let’s be honest… it has to taste really good, too!  Growing up, I can remember my Daddy taking me to AAU basketball tournaments, and along the way we’d have several rest stops to get gas and to hit the bathroom.  I’ll always remember that one of his go-to, on-the-road snacks, was beef jerky.  It was never really my thing, but I think it’s because I never had the opportunity to try something as delicious as Perky Jerky.  Every bag he’s ever let me sampled left a lot to  be desired taste and texture wise, not to mention, it probably wasn’t super nutritious.  For those of you in the same pre-dic-a-pickle as I’m in… allow me to introduce, PERKY JERKY.

Perky Jerky is an ultra-premium jerky, unlike any other.  It’s made with a 7-ingredient marinade, which includes Guarana, a little berry from the Amazon that is commonly found in energy drinks.  Between the awesome flavor, the tender texture, and the healthy perks, I can’t even choose what I like BEST about this stuff.  It’s satisfying, portable, and perfect fuel.

There are a total of 8 different varieties (4 beef & 4 turkey): Sweet & Spicy, Original, Hot & Bothered, and Teriyaki.  The only variety that’s not gluten-free, is the Original!  While I’m not one to play favorites, I’ve got to admit, I think I downed the entire Sweet & Spicy bag in one sitting.  It’s got the best of both worlds in the flavor department.  They marinate tender cuts of beef in a sweet jalapeno mixture overnight.  It will literally have your taste buds dancing.

I’ve never, in my life, tasted a jerky that is as succulent as this stuff.  I think a lot of the reason I was turned off by jerky when my Dad had it, was because it always was so dried out tasting and hard to chew.  This stuff?  It tastes like the meat was just cooked or something?! I have no idea how they do it, but it’s amazing.

Check out these nutrition facts, too!

nutritionIt may be hard to see, but each serving of both the turkey and beef jerky has 50-90 calories per serving, each are low in fat and sodium, high in protein, and made with all-natural ingredients.   What more can you ask for in a snack food?

One of the other amazing things that I adore about Perky Jerky is that they give back.  A portion of their proceeds goes to supporting the fight against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

As if that weren’t generous enough, they’ve decided to offer up a 1.0 oz- 12 pack caddy of Turkey or Beef Jerky (your flavor choice – a $30 value!) to one of you lucky readers!  Yeah… they’re pretty awesome 🙂
