Yesterday, I ran out on my break at work to donate blood to the local blood bank…
This is another one of those times that I’m thankful for the problems I had with my thyroid and all the many times I’ve had to get blood work done. If I hadn’t gone through that, I’d never have been able to work up the courage to face the needle stick that comes along with giving blood.
The worst part is when the stick the needle in and when they pull it out. Once you get past the initial prick, it’s a piece of cake. You simply squeeze a tension ball to keep the blood flowing, and watch “The View” to stay entertained 🙂
The coolest part, is that when I was finished, the nurse gave me a gift card for a free pint of ice cream from Bruster’s! I’m seeing some delicious Chocolate Caramel Swirl ice cream in my future?! 🙂 The good news is, you’re not too late! All this week, the blood donation center at Holy Spirit in Camp Hill is giving out free Bruster’s ice cream in return for a blood donation!
Another recent success? Homemade Gluten-free Pizza.
I actually made this over the weekend, and I’ll have you know, it’s absolutely delicious. Little did I know, when I found it on Pinterest and Health.com, that it was one of Tina’s recipes from one of my favorite blogs, Carrots N’ Cake. Thanks, lady!

You’ll love it, I promise.
Last night, Jarid and I had yet another home owner’s issue…After I finished up an ab routine downstairs, I came up to post a few more virtual yard sale items into a group on Facebook, and looked outside. It was like a monsoon!
So, so, so much rain. I said aloud to Jarid, “geeze, I can’t believe we don’t have any water in the basement at all!”, being that I was just down there, not 30 minutes before, laying on the carpet doing crunches. Before I knew it I heard a few curse words from Jarid who immediately ran downstairs.
It wasn’t pretty, folks. There was water under the small carpeted section, slowly seeping through it, and a large puddle that almost reached my elliptical. We acted fast, getting out our tiny shop vac, but it wasn’t enough power to even begin to put a dent in the amount of water on the floor.
My job was to head to Lowe’s while Jarid tried to control the water situation at home. I chose a 16 gallon vac that looked pretty heavy duty, after calling my Daddy on the way to get his advice. Jarid gets pretty stressed about house stuff, so I knew and understood his urgency. Before too long, we had gotten up most of the water. I dried up the tile floor using our extra towels and stuffed one of them into the small crack where it looked as if the water was coming from while Jarid used our new toy. We managed to make it to bed around 11:30, luckily. I thought it was going to end up being a much later night.
In celebration of Tuesday, and the fact that our home is officially water free, now. Here’s another giveaway! Remember when I reviewed the Sunglasses Shop? Well, Mary, from the company has offered up the chance for one of you readers to win your choice of sunglasses from the SXUC Collection!
