You may remember a little while ago, when I mentioned that Udi’s Gluten Free sent be a huge box of goodies so I could try them all out and write this review on the blog! A gigantic thank you to the company and to Suzanne for being so generous. Living a gluten-free lifestyle isn’t always easy, but thanks to companies like Udi’s, it can be a lot more enjoyable.
Some of my favorites, included the Cinnamon Raisin bread:
One thing is for sure, Udi’s certainly knows how to make bread. Experience in the past, has told me that gluten-free bread can sometimes be tasteless, and fall apart easily. I never would’ve known the different between Udi’s and normal bread that contained gluten. The texture and flavor were spot on.
Brummel & Brown was my favorite topping of choice for the Cinnamon Raisin bread. It was the perfect mix of salty & sweet! I couldn’t get enough and was a little bit depressed when I ran out. There are literally plump raisins swirled into this loaf. There are only 140 calories in a 2-slice serving!
Can you guess what my next favorite was? Well, this might be a bit deceiving, because it’s a tie. Between the Tortillas and the Thin & Crispy Pizza Crusts, I just can’t choose — I used the tortillas as CRUSTS! For about a week, all I wanted for lunch was pizza. I would bake these babies the night before, so it made for an easily packable lunch the next day. They’re SUPER convenient and even more delicious… both of them! I even tried to recreate the recipe based on the ingredients, but I just can’t measure up to Udi’s.
The nutritionals are just a bonus! 😉 I’m probably the weirdest when it comes to getting on food “kicks” . I will eat the same thing made the same way three days in a row before it gets old to me. Especially classics, like pizza. I didn’t even get creative with toppings (although, I do recommend that you do). Skim mozzarella & Light Ragu were default each time, and since I don’t have a ton of time for food prep, it was the most realistic.
Next up on my list? Double Vanilla Muffins.
All you need to make these are a few Double Vanilla Muffins, some unsweetened almond milk, and some fresh or frozen fruit! Believe it or not, I actually used jam for the Blueberry one! Jarid LOVED them. Granted, they total 280 calories and 24g sugar, which isn’t so great, nutritionally speaking, but I’ll be honest with you, they’re ginormous. They’re great for cutting in half and crumbling on top of plain oatmeal or into a cup of plain greek yogurt since they’re so sweet!
It stole my heart with its taste first and ingredients second. I LOVE that it’s sweetened with honey! I can’t tell you how many times this tamed my hunger beast come 3 o’clock at work when I don’t get off until 5pm. It was perfect for spooning right out of the bag and I kept it in my snack drawer until it was an empty bag.
Oh, I cannot forget to talk about the Everything Inside Bagels. These were a favorite of mine from first bite. I’m an onion lover, so these babies were right up my alley. It’s even got 7g of protein and 3g of fiber per serving!
Again, although these are a bit higher in calories (290 per bagel), they’re also very large — think, NY bagels, if you will. Usually, with these, I made open-faced sandwiches, that way, I didn’t stuff myself.
The White Sandwich bread was fabulous as well. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the texture and flavor of this stuff since I’m much more of a multigrain fan… I need a little bit of seediness to my grains, usually, but this loaf, after toasting, was just like that delicious, warm, crusty bread that they serve at restaurants… you know… the kind that comes with the olive oil dipping plate?
That’s this. Clocking in at just 140 calories per 2 slice serving and made with high quality ingredients gives this brand bonus points from me, too. Again, my topping of choice was typically Brummel, but then I discovered the WARM version of a PB&J. Toast your bread first. I promise, you’ll thank me.
On to the chocolatey goodness in Udi’s product line…
Dark Chocolate Brownie Bites are totally decadent and rich. Enough that just one will give your sweet tooth its fix, even though the serving size is technically two 😉 Warm them in the microwave for a few seconds and top them with some vanilla ice cream!
If you’re looking for something a little less indulgent, go for the Chocolate Chip Granola Bars.
These guys are perfect for on-the-go fuel. They’re loaded with Antioxidants, Vitamin E and Zinc. Just as the name states, they’re chewy and chocolatey…like a hybrid of an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie and a s’more! One bar has just 140 calories and comes with 3g of both protein and fiber. In particular, I liked the crunchy almonds that were laced throughout these bars!
As I said before, a big, huge, whopping thank you to Udi’s & Suzanne for sending all these goodies for me to try out. I was not compensated for this post monetarily, and the opinions are all my own.
