Fun Fact Friday 4/26

1- Workouts lately haven’t been super strenuous in the cardio department.  I’m focusing more on being well-rounded, making time for strength training, and only spending about 20 minutes on the elliptical.

I used to be tied to this thing for at least 40 minutes a day, but I’ve come to the realization that the insane amount of calories I burned on this thing only turned me into a hunger beast who couldn’t seem to be tamed.  By incorporating more ab, arm, and leg work, I’m toning and firming ALL parts of my body, rather than having a weak core & shapeless arms with twiggy legs.

2- My heart rate monitor, which always determined my calorie burn, has been broken for about 3 weeks now.  It’s a blessing in disguise in my eyes.  It feels good to eat intuitively, rather than basing my intake on the amount of calories I’ve burned.  Freeing, really.

3- With longer days and warmer weather, comes the opportunity to go for strolls with the hubs outside.

Sometimes, if you’re lucky, God reminds you of His grace & promises.


4- Udi’s Gluten-Free has become one of my favorite companies.  Can you believe all of these gluten-free goodies they sent us for review on the blog?  Talk about blessed.  Eating gluten-free can be expensive, so this gesture was completely generous.


I’ve been using some of the items they sent me, like the Double Vanilla Muffins to make Jarid & I some delicious desserts… behold

3-Ingredient Strawberry Shortcake!

Double Vanilla Muffins

Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk

-1/2 C. Frozen strawberries (fresh would work, too!)


1. Warm the strawberries in the microwave for about 1 minute until soft

2. Crumble a muffin into a bowl, layer on the strawberries, and pour your milk overtop!

Easy peasy and the PERFECT summer/springtime dessert.


5- Jarid massaged my feet/legs last night with some aromatherapy lotion.  It was heaven.  I think it felt extra good because I had just gotten home from my Aquatics class, where we did all of our end-of-the-semester FIT testing aka 20 laps in 12 minutes in the pool, 60 sit ups, 22 pushups, and minute long planks on each side.  This was all in addition to my morning cardio & strength training workout.  I know, I know, I should’ve skipped it to save my energy for class.


6- I’m loving this new 99¢ eyeliner that I found at Rite Aid (Wet & Wild).  Yes, I will spend $25 for one container of Bare Minerals all-over-face color or matte foundation, but I refuse to spend a ton on eyeliner.  How much different can they really be? Besides, the cheaper they are, the more colors you can get 😉  This one is a fun, blue that I paired with a blue shirt for extra POP.


7- Two of my sweet co-workers bought me a gift card for Administrative Professionals day.  I knew immediately what I’d use it for… GNC in Strawberry Square, I’m coming for your QuestBars.  Right now, they’re also giving away FREE gold cards.  SCORE.

Here’s to a sunny, lovely weekend!  Tomorrow, I am going “Blooma Shopping” with all the ladies on Jarid’s side of the family.  We start in the morning, going to different flower suppliers and buying new blooms for our flower beds!  I’m sure I’ll have bunches of pictures to show you on Monday.

  1. I’m so proud of you for letting up on the elliptical and focusing more on just being healthy all around. And you don’t need that heart rate monitor needed to die! Eating intuitively …you can do that and be free, Sami!
