Recipes from Your Heart

I haven’t mentioned this on the blog yet, but that’s only because everything has happened so quickly.  Last Tuesday, my Godfather (TT), was taken to the ER via ambulance.  I’ve mentioned him several times on the blog before, and he holds a very special place in my heart.

Anyway, he’s had a pretty deep history of heart problems in the past, so when I got the news, I immediately started praying that it was nothing serious.  Unfortunately, after a week and a half stay in the hospital, they’ve come to the conclusion that they’ll need to perform shock therapy in order to get his heart beat back into a normal rhythm.  In order to perform this procedure, they needed to check his heart with a scope to make sure it was safe, otherwise, it could cause a stroke.  When they did the scope, they found that there was a blood clot in one of the upper chambers of his heart, so they’ll have to wait another 4-6 weeks.  He keeps telling us, “I just have a bad heart“… which I find to be completely ironic, because he’s one of the most good-hearted people I’ve ever known.  If you could please keep him on your prayer lists (for all my prayer warriors out there ;)), I’d greatly appreciate it!

logoIn TT’s honor, I’ve decided to participate in the Eggland’s Best, Recipes from Your Heart campaign, supporting American Heart Month in February!  As a participant, Eggland’s Best has been so kind as to supply me with a $50 Visa gift card and two coupons for free Eggland’s Best eggs.  I know… generous, right?!  Stay tuned for a giveaway, because one of you lucky readers is going to have a chance to win:

o   2 free dozen EB coupons

o   $25 Visa gift card

o   1 EB plush egg

The cool thing is, for every recipe post that I create, Eggland’s Best is going to donate $25 to the American Heart Association!
