It’s hard to believe that just 12 years ago, our lives as Americans changed forever.
What I’m loving is that people still haven’t forgotten. I can’t tell you how many posts I’ve read thanking those who have served and are serving our country. The patriotism I’ve seen in all the social media today is inspiring. I’ll never forget where I was when I heard the news. Although my mind couldn’t fully grasp what the tragedy meant, or why it happened, being in 8th grade, they didn’t explain much to us. I was sitting in my 8th grade science class with Mrs. Faschnaut’s, getting ready to transition to the next period when I had English class with Mr. Frantz. Everyone was in a state of disbelief. Today, I was reminded how important it is to continuously pray for America…for our leaders…for our service men & women… for our heroes.
On a lighter note… :) I’m loving lots of other things lately as well…
…like quick & easy packable lunches. These BBQ chicken lettuce wraps were thrown together in a few minutes with the help of canned white mean chicken breast in water (Hormel was the brand, I think?), some Wegman’s organic BBQ sauce, and a few romaine lettuce leaves. I call that a win. It was delicious, to boot.
I’m loving the inspiration I’m getting by watching Once Upon a Time. It’s been encouraging me to be playful with my eye make-up! Each show, I can’t help but notice how long the girls’ eyelashes are and how neat their liner looks! Trial: cat-eye liner. I think it was a success? I went pretty minimal with the rest of my makeup that day. I think it’s best to only play up one aspect of makeup at a time. I probably wouldn’t go with a dark red lip and this eye make-up, but when everything else is pretty neutral, the attention drawn is GOOD attention, not bad.
I’m loving that I get to work on FOOD science in my Human Biology lab! Testing for starches, reducing sugars, etc. Granted, my art skills could use some improvement, but practice makes perfect, right?
I’m loving that Summer has decided to stick around a bit longer, but yesterday and today have been ridiculously humid! My hair is a ball of frizz, only to be tamed by a lazy girl braid. Last night at my sister’s soccer game, I’ll admit, it was incredibly relaxing to sit in the bleachers with the warm breeze brushing by my face. Might I add that the girls kicked some Millersburg booty?! It wasn’t until the 2nd half that they decided to score, but when they did, they went big! Two quick goals in a matter of 5 minutes! Way to go, sis, my favorite little defender
Oh, and lastly, I’m digging Sweet Christine’s Bakery GF sandwich bread as toast.
Spread with a healthy dollop of Brummel & Brown yogurt spread (tastes just like butter!) and a pinch of sea salt. No joke, I eat these guys as snacks. I’ve found that my body’s energy level is easier to maintain if I eat little snacks here and there, rather than 3 full meals a day. Thus, the chicken BBQ wraps and the toast :) Throw a Quest Cinnamon Roll bar into the mix and call me a happy camper.
Please do me a favor and take a moment of silence to remember those who were loved and lost in the tragedies 12 years ago today. Say a prayer for their families and for our country, that we turn to God instead of casting Him out. We need Him more now than ever.
